A Farm to Table Butcher

Established in 1991 by Leroy B. Martin, Peel Meat Packers is a family-run business managed by Delmer Martin, his father Leroy and brother Philip Martin. The company raises its animals with the highest level of care, and provides custom processing for slaughtering, chilling, and aging beef, veal, lamb, and goats.

Our Journey

The business was founded by LeRoy B. Martin, a former dairy farmer that wanted to transition and expand his business from milking 40 cows, to providing butchering services and eventually open an abattoir.

Facing many challenges and obstacles along the way, LeRoy first built a small kill floor and cut room in the corner of his drive shed, and started butchering cows for his family and friends. Word quickly spread about LeRoy’s small but quickly-growing business, and as more local abattoirs shut down, LeRoy found himself in a position to renovate almost all of the drive shed into a cooler,  a barn and a kill floor to focus only on kill with no cutting or processing.

In 2002, LeRoy’s son Delmer joined to work alongside his father and assist in running the flourishing business—with one of the first big projects being the expansion of the farm in 2004 with the construction of a new plant. A number of renovations and additions have been made since then to accommodate the increasing demand for service.

In 2015 Delmer took over management of the meat operations, while his brother Philip and their father LeRoy oversee the farming operations. Delmer is now the owner of Peel Meat Packers, RF Land & Livestock Inc. and Nith Valley here in New Hamburg.

Picked up some NY Ribeye steak for a get together. The staff working was so helpful. I wasn’t sure what I wanted and she helped and stayed within the price range I was comfortable with. Thank you so much for your attention to detail. I love the variety of all the products. We also picked up some dill cheese and taco cheese curds. For dessert we pick up ginger cookies- crazy soft. Thank you for helping us have an amazing dinner.

We always eat well after leaving Nith. The smoked chops are so good. Not too smokey and just the right texture. My son loves their sandwich meats and we all enjoy the sausages. The service is alwasy great and they have little baked goods and such to go along with your meat purchase. Fresh or frozen available.

Once we found this shop, we only purchase our meat here. The staff is very helpful with cuts and cooking information. We enjoy the smoked pork hocks, smoked pork chops and schnitzel. We have friends that come from West of London to purchase their meat and from Hamilton. The shop also has specialty items, along with an amazing bakery rack.
